When you use SnapMeals, we may collect and process:

- Login credentials (hashed password; we never store plaintext passwords)
- Food scan images you upload (photo scans, nutrition label photos)
- Barcode scan data
- Nutrition label OCR text extracted from label photos
- Pantry items you add or import
- Grocery list items
- Meal plans and meal planner preferences
- Recipe imports (from URLs or pasted text)
- Scan history (photo, barcode, and label scans)
- Nutrition goals you set
- Allergy and diet preferences
- Family profile information (names, age groups, allergies, dietary needs, picky eater notes) if you use Family features
- Shared pantry and shared grocery data if you use Family features
- Subscription status and billing identifiers (managed through Stripe; we do not store full payment card numbers)
- Support messages you send us
- Basic app usage information (pages visited, feature usage, error logs)
3. Third-Party Services
SnapMeals uses the following third-party services to provide our features:
- Stripe — subscription and billing management
- Google OAuth — sign-in with Google (if enabled)
- Google Cloud Vision — nutrition label OCR scanning (if enabled)
- Open Food Facts — barcode product lookup (community database)
- USDA FoodData Central — nutrition data enrichment
- AI providers — recipe generation, meal ideas, ingredient analysis, and food identification
- Hosting, database, email, and cloud storage providers — infrastructure services that host and operate the app

4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve SnapMeals features
- Process food scans, generate recipes, and plan meals
- Manage your subscription and billing
- Send account-related communications (welcome emails, important notices)
- Respond to support requests
- Detect and prevent misuse or fraud
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your app data (pantry, grocery, scans, recipes, meal plans, nutrition goals, family profiles). Certain billing, tax, fraud prevention, security, and legal compliance records may be retained as required by law.
6. Account Deletion
You can delete your account:
- Inside the app: Settings > Data & Privacy > Delete Account
- By visiting snapmealsapp.com/delete-account
- By emailing [email protected] with the subject “Delete my SnapMeals account”
7. Children’s Privacy
SnapMeals is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] so we can delete the data.
8. Food & Nutrition Accuracy
SnapMeals provides food and nutrition information for convenience and informational purposes only. Nutrition data, allergy alerts, health scores, AI-generated recipes, and dietary suggestions may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always verify information from official food labels and consult a qualified professional for medical or dietary advice.
